Abalone & Pearl Shells

Abalone Shells

Haliotidae

Ear-shaped shells with a low, flattened spire and a row of small round holes along the edge. The exterior is polished to reveal a vivid mother-of-pearl surface that shifts between emerald green, deep blue, violet and pink as the light moves, while natural pieces keep a rough, textured outer layer. The wide, smooth interior is lined with shimmering nacre in soft silver-white and rainbow tones. Each shell is cleaned and sorted by size, and colour and pattern vary naturally from piece to piece. Their iridescent finish and dish-like shape suit jewellery trays, smudging bowls, soap and trinket dishes, craft and inlay work, and coastal décor.
